2025 - Tips for Using DTHS
If you’ve been using DT Heart & Soul for awhile, you will notice many changes since we began in 2009.
Here are some of the highlights (and some caveats as well).
In the midst of the changes and challenges, singles keep meeting! As we continue to build connections and resources centered around the DTHS app platform, this guide should help you successfully navigate the service in its current state.
Highlights
- All new signups are free for the first month!
- We frequently give out one-month promo codes for subscription renewal. Watch https://disciplestoday.org for DTHS articles that have these codes.
- We are completely renovating the frontend of the new webapp platform. You should see these improvements before mid-year.
Caveats
- The native apps are not being maintained; use the webapp, https://app.dtheartandsoul.com.
The Old Site
https://dtheartandsoul.com is the “old site”, where DTHS has lived since 2009. This site is still active, but will be decommissioned sometime this year. Subscriptions sync between here and the new app platform (see below).
The App Platform
This consists of a webapp, at https://app.dtheartandsoul.com. Note the “app” prefix compared to the “old site” URL. This is a completely separate system from the old site, although they do talk to each other in a limited fashion (for instance, subscriptions and verifications sync across, if your email on old and new is the same).
At one time, we also had an iPhone and an Android app, but due to challenges associated with keeping abreast of the constant changes and restrictions from Apple and Google, these native apps have fallen into disuse.)
How do you tell whether you’re on the old site or the new platform?
The old site is https://dtheartandsoul.com. It has the black-red-and-gold logo:
The new platform is accessed via https://app.dtheartandsoul.com (note the “app” in the URL). It has a gold-and-tan logo.
Which Platform Should I Choose?
Choose the new platform. The old one is going away this year (2025).
Which features?
The new webapp has better chat and notification features, and is being actively developed.
The old site has more profile fields available, and the search/filter features are more powerful. Some of these features will be brought into the renovated version of the new app platform.
Who’s on Which Platform?
Many but not all singles are on both platforms; the trend is toward the new platform. It’s up to you; for now, if you have an account on each one, there’s a chance of meeting someone who’s not on the other one.
Subscription Tips
If you want your subscription and verification info to apply to both platforms, first set up an account and get verified on the old platform, https://dtheartandsoul.com, and then sign up as a new user on the new platform, https://app.dtheartandsoul.com (note the “app” portion of the URL), using the same email as you did on the old website.
If your subscription renewal is not syncing, let us know.
If you happen to still have a version of the native app, DO NOT USE IT for signup or renewal. Instead, use the webapp on your browser, for these reasons:
- The native apps are not being maintained.
- You can enter promo codes (at the bottom where it says “or use a promo code”).
- You avoid giving Google or Apple 15% of your subscription.
- We are better able to issue refunds if necessary.
- Google Pay on Android is not working anyway.
Workarounds - blank screen
If you see a blank screen on the webapp, https://app.dtheartandsoul.com: Try visiting the profile page, by entering this URL directly in your browser: https://app.dtheartandsoul.com/profile. If it still doesn’t work, contact Technical Support.
Why not just have one platform?
This year we plan to do that. We are overhauling the new platform, and when that’s up and running, the old site will be retired.
