Volunteer Software Developer Role, DT Heart & Soul
Are you looking for a chance to exercise your professional skills to make a global impact in our fellowship?
DTHS seeks a software engineer who is excited about a multi-year once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bless singles worldwide with the technical talents God has given you. You will work with church leaders and singles worldwide to build a ministry that bears the fruit of godly marriages and families, now and in generations to come.
DT Heart & Soul, aka DTHS, is a project of Disciples Today. Since 2009, DTHS has been offering online matching services to singles in the ICOC fellowship of churches. Over 100 married couples first met on DTHS; about 40% of those marriages are international! The platform is designed to offer a safe, pure, and fun experience for singles to connect with each other.
This person must be a spiritually mature Christian in our fellowship with a deep passion for the singles ministry, who is commended by leaders in your local congregation as blameless and above reproach.
Proven skill as a web developer is required. A partial list of technologies you will work with: React, JSX, Redux, React-Native deployed to iOS and Android, Firebase, Cloud Functions for Firebase, MongoDB, Dokku, Ruby on Rails, MySQL, Hugo static site generation, Github, Github Actions, a Linux/bash environment. You do not need to know all or even most of these, but practical experience in web development is necessary.
The successful candidate will commit to volunteering 5 to 10 hours per week to learn the existing system, collaborate on platform enhancement and maintenance, participate in weekly status meetings, and deliver occasional end-user support.
The Director will orient you on the current architecture of the platform, and work with you to design and build enhancements.
This is a remote role. Most interactions will be over Zoom.
