Alex Bayrd and Katherine Duterte - Married December 2014
Alex and Katherine have been living in opposite parts of the world, but that didn’t stop them from seeking the relationship God had planned for them. They were willing to put God first, take a leap of faith, and see what he would do!
Alex lives in Cary, North Carolina and has been a disciple since January 2002. Katherine lives in Singapore and has been a disciple since September 2010. They met and became friends in May 2013 on DT Heart & Soul.
After three months of building a Christ-based friendship, Alex asked Katherine to be his girlfriend via Skype during a double date with another couple.
It’s a challenge to have a long-distance relationship but technology (email, SMS, and FaceTime) helped to bridge their love for one another. As months passed, and as they sought much advice, God made it clear that they were meant for each other, and their love was strengthened.
In May 2014, Alex made the 10,000-mile flight to Singapore to meet Katherine in person. While he was there, he gathered the courage to propose to her in front of 250 disciples from the EDGE Ministry (singles and marrieds). God has worked miracle after miracle to make their relationship possible, and they are very grateful for all the help they have received and for the work of DT Heart & Soul.
Both Alex and Katherine are happily planning for their upcoming wedding set in the U.S. on 12/13/14! Amen!
